What this site is

HeatAndAirCost helps homeowners answer two questions before they spend money on heating or cooling: what is this likely to cost, and is my quote fair? We publish researched 2026 price ranges for furnace and AC repairs and replacements, each cited to a published source, plus plain-English guides for the most common problems, like a furnace that will not turn on or an AC that runs but will not cool.

The reason the site exists is simple. When your heat quits in January, you are making a fast, expensive decision with no easy way to tell whether the number a contractor just gave you is normal or a gouge. The cost pages give you the researched range to check it against. The problem pages walk you through the free, no-tool checks first, because a tripped switch, a dead thermostat battery, or a clogged filter is not a repair, and knowing that can save you a whole service call.

Who runs it

HeatAndAirCost is operated by Kindred Works LLC, an independent publisher. Content is written and maintained by the HeatAndAirCost editors. We are deliberately upfront about this: we do not invent author personas, fake credentials, or stock “expert” headshots. The value here is that every price links to a source you can check yourself, which you can read about on our methodology page.

What we are not

We are not an HVAC contractor and we do not perform repairs. The prices on this site are researched ranges, not quotes. When you are ready to hire, we connect you with independent, licensed HVAC contractors. The service is free to you: contractors pay us, and that never changes what you pay.
